Essequibo man charged after found with counterfeit money

Anand Alphonso, called ‘Dolo’, a 43-year-old Labourer of Lima Housing Scheme, Essequibo Coast, was charged with ‘possession of forged currency note’.

He was arrested on Tuesday at Lima Housing Scheme and charged on Wednesday. The case was heard at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court before Tamieka Clarke, where the charge was read to Alphonso.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge. The prosecutor objected to bail, and Alphonso was remanded to prison.

The case was adjourned to the August 27, 2024.
