New Amsterdam carpenter, 23, arrested with ganja

Bhudram Loelere, a 23-year-old carpenter from Patrick Dam, Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam is in police custody following his arrest earlier this week.

Authorities on marine patrol in the Berbice River discovered a significant quantity of suspected cannabis during their routine operations.

The drugs were found in two bags containing four bulky parcels wrapped in transparent plastic, weighing a total of 5,772 grams.

Loelere is expected to face charges in connection with the incident as the investigation continues.
