Jagdeo announces massive increase in subventions for local gov’t bodies 

In a meeting at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre, Liliendaal, on Friday, Vice President Dr Bharrat Jagdeo announced increases in the government subventions for local government bodies.

Municipalities are to receive $50 million as their new annual subvention while Neighbourhood Democratic Councils (NDCs) will get $30 million each.

Previously, NDCs got subventions totalling about $5 million, while municipalities got about $18 million.
