Massy School Football: Chase’s Academic top St. Joseph’s High to end group stage unbeaten

Chase Academic Foundation underlined their status as tournament favourites with a ruthless 11-0 demolition of St Joseph’s High School to conclude an unbeaten group stage run in the Massy Distribution Under-18 Football tournament.

On a weekend defined by high-scoring spectacles and desperate scrambles for knockout qualification, Chase stood head and shoulders above the field.

Jaden Tasher and Shaquan David both registered clinical hat-tricks, while Darius Chester’s early brace set the tone for a match that felt more like a training exercise than a competitive fixture.

The 11-goal haul was bolstered by strikes from Mark Glasgow, Jaden Christian, and Aaron Vasconcellos, ensuring Chase enters the Round of 16 on Saturday with maximum momentum.

While Chase enjoyed a procession, other schools were forced to work considerably harder to keep their title hopes alive. New Central High emerged victorious from an eight-goal thriller against Charity Secondary, eventually prevailing 5-3.

Despite trailing early in the second half after Charity’s Darvel Gonsalves found the net, New Central responded with a late surge. A brace from Caedon Whyte alongside goals from Adriel Adams and Trevor Gordon proved too much for the Region Two side.

The goal-fest continued as Three Miles Secondary overcame Annandale Secondary 6-4. Lebron Mendoca led the charge with a double, supported by strikes from Joshua James, Durell Washington, Lebron Wharton, and Riley Tracey.

Annandale’s spirited comeback attempt, led by Ronoko Morris, fell short as they struggled to overcome the dismissal of Malachi Bollers in the 33rd minute.

In contrast to the weekend’s earlier shootouts, New Amsterdam Secondary produced a composed 3-0 victory over St John’s College. Enqi Leacock broke the deadlock within three minutes, but the result remained in the balance until second-half goals from Domonique Rodrigues and Jaffarie Albert secured the points.

Mackenzie High also relied on a standout individual performance to see off Carmel Secondary 4-2. Kemmany McKenzie was the hero of the hour, netting a hat-trick to cancel out an early opener from Carmel’s Keil Alonzo.

Elsewhere, the tension of the final group games resulted in a physical stalemate between Belladrum and Ann’s Grove Secondary, with five yellow cards brandished in a 0-0 draw.

Westminster Secondary were handed a simpler route to the next stage, awarded a walkover after The Bishops’ High School failed to appear.

The champion team is guaranteed G$300,000 for a school project, while the second and third teams will get G$200,000 and G$100,000, respectively.
