The Guyana Cricket Board Under-19 Inter-County 50-over witnessed a day of bowling clinics as Demerara and Berbice asserted their dominance on Tuesday.

At the Lusignan Community Centre Ground, Demerara’s bowling unit turned the screws on a struggling Select XI.

The star of the show was leg-spinner Danesh Persaud, who dismantled the Select XI batting order with a devastating spell of 5-18.

Supported by Parmeshwar Ram, who claimed 2-18, the Demerara attack restricted the Select XI to a meagre 84 all out in 24 overs.

Joshua Budhram (17*) and Yannick Newton (16) provided the only real resistance in a primary display of bowling discipline.

The chase was a measured affair as despite losing four wickets along the way, Demerara never looked in true danger of slipping up.

Khush Seegobin anchored the early stages with 22, while Parmeshwar Ram capped off an excellent all-round day with 16. Emmanuel Lewis (14*) and Shamar Apple (11*) eventually steered the hosts home at 85-4 in just 17.2 overs, securing a comfortable six-wicket victory.

Meanwhile, at the Police Sports Club, Berbice recorded a 92-run demolition of Essequibo.

SUMMARY: Berbice 184 from 40.3 overs (Romario Ramdeholl 43, Richard Ramdeholl 37, Adrian Hetmyer 31, Vishal Williams 17; Darrius Pearson 5-33, Darwin Joseph 2-30) beat Essequibo 92 all out from 32.3 overs (Romario Bholo 28, Navindra Sankar 12*, Darwin Joseph 12; Gilbert Griffith 6-15) by 92 runs

Batting first, Berbice posted a competitive 184 in 40.3 overs, fueled by a collective effort from the middle order. Skipper Romario Ramdeholl top-scored with a gritty 43, while Richard Ramdeholl (37) and Adrian Hetmyer (31) added crucial runs to the tally.

Essequibo’s Darrius Pearson was the standout with the ball, finishing with impressive figures of 5-33.

However, the Berbice total proved to be far more than enough once left-arm spinner Gilbert Griffith got the ball in his hands.

Griffith produced the performance of the round, slicing through the Essequibo lineup to finish with remarkable figures of 6-15 as Essequibo crumbled to 92 all out in 32.3 overs.

Romario Bholo offered the lone fight for the Cinderella County with 28.
