Rohan St. Patrick Davey, the Jamaican-born former National Football League (NFL) quarterback, was born on April 14, 1978, in Clarendon, Jamaica, to parents Jeffry Davey and Dottlyn Carruthers. He has one brother, Christopher, and one sister, Samantha.

Davey moved to the United States at the age of eight and grew up in South Florida, where he attended Hialeah-Miami Lakes High School. Initially more interested in basketball, he was introduced to American football in high school, where his arm strength quickly set him apart.

College and Pro Years

Davey went on to play college football at Louisiana State University (LSU), where he developed into a starting quarterback known for his talent and leadership on the field. He is regarded as one of LSU’s more prolific passers and, following his standout performance in the 2001 Sugar Bowl, was later enshrined in the LSU Athletic Hall of Fame.

He was later selected in the NFL Draft by the New England Patriots, where he played as part of a team led by quarterback Tom Brady during one of the franchise’s most successful periods. During his time with the Patriots, Davey earned two Super Bowl rings:

  • Super Bowl XXXVIII (2003 season)
  • Super Bowl XXXIX (2004 season)

In addition to his NFL career, Davey played in NFL Europe with the Berlin Thunder. During his time in Germany, he had one of the most productive seasons of his career, where he:

  • Led Berlin Thunder to a World Bowl championship
  • Was named NFL Europe Player of the Year (MVP)

Davey the Coach and Chef

After four seasons in the league (2002–2005), Davey retired from professional football and transitioned into coaching, working with young athletes at the high school level. He has served as head coach at Ascension Christian, where he focuses on developing players and building the programme.

In a departure from football, Davey also launched a catering business, Quick Six Catering, an authentic Jamaican cuisine venture based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The business has catered events including tailgate parties at LSU home games, particularly during matchups against major SEC rivals.

Davey developed an interest in cooking during his high school years and had long intended to enter the food business after his playing career. His menu reflects traditional Jamaican dishes such as jerk chicken, oxtail, curry chicken, ackee and saltfish, yam, and festival, drawing on the flavours and food culture he grew up with.

Jamaica’s NFL Legacy

Rohan Davey is one of several Jamaican-born players to reach the National Football League (NFL), contributing to a wider Caribbean presence in the sport. Jamaica has consistently ranked among the top foreign countries represented in the NFL, highlighting the island’s impact on American football.

Davey’s career includes success at the collegiate level, two Super Bowl titles in the NFL, and individual honours in NFL Europe, where he was named Most Valuable Player and won the World Bowl. Beyond football, his work in coaching and his venture into Caribbean cuisine reflect a continued connection to his Jamaican roots
