Registration for One Guyana T10 Tapeball IV opens May 8

FL Sport has indicated that registration for the fourth season of the One Guyana T10 tapeball tournament will officially open on May 8 for all four zones.

Registration for the 80-team, straight-knockout tournament is scheduled to go live on Friday, May 8.

Organisers have set the entry fee at G$35,000 per team, with forms available on the tournament’s social media platforms or by WhatsApp at +592 635 2235.

Tournament Director John Ramsingh emphasised the urgency of teams formalising their entries. While squad lists are not required at the initial sign-up stage, spots are strictly reserved on a first-come, first-served basis upon payment of the registration fee.

“A lot of teams have been calling to reserve spots, but you can only fully be in the Blast if you pay your registration fee,” Ramsingh stated. “There is no need to have your squads submitted as yet, but sign up early to secure your spot.”

The tournament is scheduled to bowl off on the weekend of August 8-9 in Berbice, with a 16-team cap for its opening leg. The action then moves to the East Bank/West Demerara zone on August 15-16, followed by the Essequibo zone on August 22-23.

In a strategic scheduling move, the tournament will observe a hiatus to accommodate preparations for the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) in Guyana.

Once the CPL concludes, the Blast will resume with a revamped, extended format for the Georgetown/East Coast Demerara zone.

Moving away from the traditional two-day compact schedule, this final zonal leg will span four playing dates: the Round-of-32 and Round-of-16 on September 26-27, followed by the quarterfinals and zone finals on October 3-4.

This structured build-up leads to the national grand finale on October 11, which will be hosted for the first time at the brand-new Anna Regina National Stadium in Region Two.

Ramsingh noted that while match venues are being finalised with a focus on premier facilities, admission for all fans will remain free of charge.

The financial stakes for Season IV have reached unprecedented levels, with FL Sport introducing a tiered payout structure. Each zone winner will pocket $500,000 and earn an automatic qualifying spot in the upcoming Global T10 Tapeball tournament.

Those winners will then advance to the National Finals to compete for a $2 million top prize. Under this revamped math, the national champion will walk away with $2.5 million, while the runner-up will earn $1.5 million.

In an effort to remain player-centred, rewards have been expanded to include teams that fall short of the podium. For the first time, losing quarter-finalists will receive $25,000, while losing semi-finalists and finalists at the zonal level will earn $50,000 and $200,000, respectively.

Individual brilliance will also be handsomely compensated. The tournament MVP is set to receive $150,000 and a motorbike, while the leading run-scorer and wicket-taker will each earn $100,000 plus a television.

Additional cash incentives are slated for the Player-of-the-Final, the best economy rate, and the highest strike rate.
