Child killed, grandmother injured during Zeelugt robbery

A seven-year-old child was brutally murdered and his grandmother was reportedly stabbed to her neck after bandits invaded their Zeelugt New Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo house on Friday morning.

The identities of the victims are not yet known.

The News Room was informed that relatives at the scene said the child is usually in his grandmother’s company. The elderly woman was reportedly unwell.
When the bandits entered the house, it is believed that the child screamed to raise an alarm, and he was attacked.

His grandmother was rushed to the hospital. The child and the woman, who suffered a stroke, were home alone at the time of the incident.
