Le Premier ministre, Dr Ariel Henry, accompagné des membres de son Gouvernement et de hauts cadres de l’administration publique, a participé, le jeudi 18 mai 2023, aux cérémonies commémoratives des 220 ans de création du Bicolore national déroulées dans la ville du Cap-Haïtien, dans le département du Nord.

Cette série d’hommages dédiée aux illustres ancêtres et à l’Université a débuté au matin avec le Te Deum chanté à la cathédrale Notre-Dame du Cap-Haïtien, avec la participation du chef du Gouvernement, des membres du Cabinet ministériel, des membres du haut commandement de la PNH et du haut état-major des FAD’H, du Maire de la deuxième ville du pays, des membres de la société civile et des pouvoirs locaux.

Après avoir assisté à la cérémonie de la montée du Bicolore national à l’entrée principale de la mairie du Cap-Haïtien, le Premier ministre, sa délégation, les autorités civiles et policières et les nombreux invités à ces festivités se sont rendus à la tribune officielle au Boulevard du Cap-Haïtien pour assister au défilé et autres activités prévues pour la circonstance. « Fèt drapo a, se fèt tout Ayisyen. Kidonk, ke nou fete l Pòtoprens, ke nou fete l Gonayiv, ke nou fete l Akayè, se toujou menm Ayiti a, menm fèt drapo a. Nou ta renmen se nan tout vil nan peyi a, nan tout seksyon kominal nou rekomanse ak tradisyon bèl fèt sa a chak 18 me. », a rappelé le chef du Gouvernement qui a profité de l’occasion pour souligner l’importance de l’Université et la promesse de son Gouvernement de contribuer à son rehaussement. « Li lè li tan pou pitit pèp la ki vle antre nan yon inivèsite an Ayiti kapab jwenn yon plas. Li lè li tan pou yo ka jwenn yon fòmasyon dekalite, pou yo kapab konpetitif, nan tout peyi a. Gouvènman an ap fè sa l kapab pou inivèsite a gen yon lòt tretman. »

Dans son allocution, le Premier ministre Ariel Henry a une nouvelle fois réitéré son appel à la population afin qu’elle joue son rôle pour que les institutions puissent continuer à exister en vue de redonner l’espoir au pays. « 2023 est une année déterminante pour les Haïtiennes et les Haïtiens qui réalisent, encore plus qu’avant, qu’il est urgent de renforcer nos institutions afin qu’elles jouent leur rôle, qu’elles redonnent, à tous, confiance dans notre avenir et qu’elles nous aident à retrouver notre dignité. », a fait savoir le Dr Ariel Henry.

Selon la primature , la veille de la célébration du Bicolore, le Premier ministre Ariel Henry, accompagné des membres de son Cabinet, a eu une rencontre, à la mairie du Cap-Haïtien,avec des membres des collectivités locales, des représentants du pouvoir central, des représentants des organisations communautaires de base autour de la situation du département du Nord, notamment de la ville du Cap.

Les représentants des pouvoirs locaux et de la société civile du Nord en ont profité pour présenter au Chef du gouvernement leurs doléances qui concernent notamment les arriérés de salaire des collectivités locales, ainsi que des personnels de santé, les problèmes d’infrastructures routières, les services sociaux de base, l’assainissement. Un cahier de charge sur lequel le Premier ministre a promis de pencher en toute célérité.

Toujours le mercredi 17 mai 2023, jour des Enseignants, le Premier ministre, en présence du Ministre de l’Education nationale et de la Formation professionnelle, M. Nesmy Manigat, a procédé à l’inauguration de l’Ecole nationale Jean-Baptiste Dutty Boukman de Flavile, dans la 2e section communale de l’Acul-du-Nord. « Je profite de cette cérémonie pour présenter mes hommages aux valeureux enseignants en cette Journée nationale des enseignants.
Cette école a été entièrement construite par le Fonds national de l’Education (FNE) à l’aide des frais prélevés sur les transferts d’argent et les appels internationaux. Cette inauguration traduit la détermination de mon gouvernement à tout mettre en œuvre pour répondre aux attentes du peuple haïtien. », s’est réjoui le Dr Ariel Henry.

A man was found dead along the Lusignan access road, East Coast Demerara on Saturday.

He was seen moments before at a wedding, mere streets away.

Police identified the deceased as Choorandan Chaitram called ‘Reid’, a 41-year-old construction worker also of Lusignan.

The Police statement disclosed that Chaitram left home at about 16:00 hrs to attend a wedding at Lusignan Grass Field.

At about 03:50 hrs, Police ranks responded to a 911 call that a body of a male was seen lying on the Lusignan access road.

When Police arrived at the scene, they saw the body lying on the road, about two streets from the wedding, in a pool of what appeared to be blood.

“His body was examined, and a wound about three inches was seen on his throat,” the Police statement noted.

Chaitram’s body was identified by his brother. Several persons were questioned, and certain information was received, Police said.

A 19-year-old is in Police custody for the murder of his cousin, a fisherman identified as Seeram Krishna, a 35-year-old of ‘A’ Conservancy Dam, Canal #1, West Bank Demerara.

The murder occurred at about 18:30 hrs on Saturday.

A statement from Police Headquarters noted that Krishna and his cousin are also neighbours.

It is alleged that Krishna and his uncle, a 59-year-old vendor, were imbibing when the teenager came home from work and joined them.

The teen is accused of insulting his father at which point Krishna told him that he shouldn’t have said those insulting words.

This led to a heated argument between the two and Krishna reportedly slapped his cousin which led to a scuffle.

“The suspect ran to his home and returned with a cutlass, rushed up to Krishna and dealt him one chop to his left-side face. Krishna fell to the ground, and the suspect made good his escape,” the Police statement noted.

A report was made to La Grange Police Station, and ranks responded to the scene.

The teen, who went into hiding, subsequently surrendered to the Police. He remains in custody, assisting with the ongoing investigation.

“Mambo is so much more than a dipping sauce, yes it is perfect for dipping your fried plantain or that perfectly crispy chicken wing but it adds that x-factor that takes your dish to the next level whether you’re grilling, marinating, stewing, seasoning or glazing,” she said.

Mambo was inspired by a popular Washington D.C sauce but Swiss has taken that inspiration and added its own distinctly West Indian flavours, combining a unique blend of the ingredients that we know and love.
